It has been about six months now, since I ventured into online marketing. Joyfully I can proclaim that I have great success in my home business. After filtering through the hype of making 100k in 100 days and numerous other overly zealous offers, I settled into a work at home business which provides me with a modest, but steadily growing, stream of affiliate income.

As I began to grow my business, I soon realized that more critical than merely making money is the importance of communicating the possibility of great success to those around me, and especially to other online entrepreneurs. I have always had great success in nearly everything that I have set my hand to. My online venture started out as just something to do, a hobby, but then I realized that for many of us, if not most, online marketing is the last frontier of any hope for the "good life." It is that vehicle which can transport us from what is to what we somehow have always believed should be. My desire to help others cross that last frontier set me on my present course. My challenge is how can I who have been blessed beyond most imaginations share the seeds of my success with those around me so that those seeds take root and prosper?

Maybe for you success is a house on the beach or the liberation of being debt free. Success for me is multiplied by how many I help along my way. Allow me to quote a passage from a book that I recently read. The book is entitled THE SHACK, written by William P. Young.

A bird is not defined by being grounded but by its ability to fly. Humans are not defined by their limitations, but by the intentions that God has for them; not what they seem to be, but by everything it means to be created in God's image.

If God in your business is not your cup of tea, then just set your cup in the sink and walk away. God's intentions for us are all good and they are boundless. So how do we tap into this limitless reservoir of infinite good? Here is one of the things I do that has never failed to bring me success. Whenever I start a business I dedicate that business endeavor to God and I believe that Infinite Wisdom will lead me to success.

There is a bible verse in Proverbs that reads, "Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established." I simply commit (dedicate) my endeavors to God, and I believe with all my heart that my thoughts, and therefore my actions are established by Infinite Wisdom. So I encourage you to dedicate your business to God or to whatever you call the creator of all things, and patiently observe your thoughts. Once you dedicate your business, whatever it is, that Spirit (God) within you will lead you in all truth and will lead you in the path of success. Simply say, God I commit this work to you. Lead and guide me in all truth.

About the saddest occasion for me is at the eleven o'clock service on Sunday morning, when I look around at all the people in church who are worshiping a God who owns the cattle on a thousand hills, and because most of them don't know their authority, they may never receive the prosperity that God has authorized them to have.

I want to cry out "Don't you know that we are the children of God, and God is not poor and does not want us to be? Our Father in heaven supplies all our needs and gives us the desires of our hearts."

A few weeks ago, after Sunday morning service, I overheard a member of the congregation saying that he was looking for a home business opportunity. From other conversations with this member, I knew that he had a general knowledge of computers and surfing the web. So therefore, I gave him one of my business cards and told him that I thought this particular business could possibly work for him. He was really excited and appreciative. Nearly in tears, he thanked me over and over and over again. I was really happy for him and really glad that I had extended the offer.

A few weeks passed before I saw him again, and so I asked him how he was doing with the business. "Well" he said, "I haven't really looked at it yet." Needless to say I was somewhat disappointed. I asked God in prayer, what is it that paralyzes us and keeps us from taking action? The Spirit said to me, "It is Fear, because my children do not know that they are authorized to prosper."

God gives us the power (authority) to get wealth. His word tells us that life and death (living well or not) are in the power of the tongue. So many of us can quote scripture, but very few are diligent to present themselves approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. The ones who are diligent are obvious. They are the biggest tithers. They truly know that God opens up the windows of heaven and rebukes the devourer. The diligent are always the first to sow because they know what God means by "Give and it shall be given unto you." They always appear to be healthy. They don't even catch a cold, because they know that "By His stripes we are healed." They live in perfect peace because their minds are stayed on Him. Everything that their hands touch prospers, because they delight in the law of the Lord and meditate in it day and night. In other words, the diligent ones know that they are authorized by God (His Word) to prosper, and for them all things are possible. Therefore, it is impossible for them to fail.

Yes, I was disappointed. I handed him a business card and because he doesn't know he is authorized to prosper, he doesn't know that he can not fail. He doesn't know that he is authorized to use the power of his tongue to bind that spirit of fear and cast it out with a word. Because he doesn't know his authority, he doesn't know that his need is met, he's debt free, and he lends and does not borrow. He doesn't know that in everything he is more than a conqueror, because he should know that he can do all things through Christ, who strengthens him.

Deducting Your Home Office Is Not Always a Wise Choice

Even as it is every home based business owner's dream come true, deducting your home office may not always be a wise choice or even a legal one. The Internal Revenue Service has put in place a plethora of very strict guidelines that determine which entrepreneurs will have the option of taking that coveted deduction and who is not eligible to do so.

Generally speaking, you may write off the use of your home office if you conduct your business activities on a regular basis at that location. If you work at other places as well, the deduction may not apply to you. This might be of special note for freelance writers and others who do business with little more than a laptop and who find that they can do their work at the park or coffee shop, as well as they can do it at the desk in the spare bedroom.

In addition, you must use that space you are trying to deduct entirely for your home business. Thus, the desk you shoved into the corner of your living room or kitchen will not permit you to write off the living room or kitchen as a home office, since the rooms are actually serving other purposes as well. Home business entrepreneurs who are running daycare operations from their homes are obviously exempt from this exclusive use clause; all others must abide by it.

If you find that you meet all of the requirements imposed by the federal government, you will be permitted to deduct a number of expenses that will severely lessen your tax liability:

• Deduct the applicable portion of taxes you pay on your property.
• Write off a portion of the mortgage interest you pay or the rent you pay to your landlord.
  
• Utilities that are used within your home office, insurance such as homeowners, fire, flood, or earthquake insurance, and common maintenance expenses are all deductible items.

As you are calculating the applicable deduction, make sure you use only the percentage that is equivalent to the actual size of the room you utilize. You will not be able to write off your entire second story if you only use one room of it for your business! In the same way, it is wise to consult with a tax professional if you are trying to sell the IRS on your notion of using an actual suite of rooms within your home for the sake of your freelance writing business. In case of an audit, it is incumbent upon you to prove to the government’s satisfaction that each and every square inch of space you are writing off is actually used for the business itself and not in some way sitting idle.

Consult with your tax professional also prior to expensing any home improvements or remodeling! You may be in for a surprise to learn that some renovations will not in fact be permitted as a write off for the sake of a qualified home office deduction.

The internet is constantly opening up new avenues for those who want to make money working from home. If you don’t like any of the existing models, nothing is stopping you from creating your own. Self Employment Tax Rules For Fiscally Challenged

Even as your enthusiasm about finally making some money in your home based business is beginning to build, in the back of your mind the nagging worry about the tax ramifications that your sudden income will generate cannot be denied. Sure, you probably read up on tax liabilities, but more than likely with an eye to tax deductions rather than self-employment tax.

Self-employment tax rules for the fiscally challenged are by no means all-inclusive, but they do provide a good rule of thumb that helps you understand how much of a hit you can expect Uncle Sam to take.

Many a myth has sprung up around self-employment taxes, but in essence they are little more than your paying into the social security and also Medicare funds. In the past, you saw these deductions on your paychecks.

At this point in time, your self-employment tax rate – regardless of income below $94,200 – is set at 15.3%.

A much-overlooked rule dictates that you are supposed to pay your estimated self-employment tax throughout the year. This is true especially when you find at the end of the last year that you owed taxes – of any kind – exceeding $999. Estimated tax payments may be made during the year and thus will ease the hit you may take at the end of the year.

Interestingly, if you just started out with your home base business, you might be able to get away with not paying self-employment tax, if your net income was at or below $399. At this point it is still considered hobby income and will not be subject to the tax.

If in doubt, you will be wise to invest some time and money and visit with your friendly neighborhood accountant who should be able to give you some tips as to what you might have to look forward to when the taxes come due. In addition to the foregoing, investing the time now and discussing monies owed as well as allowable expenses with your tax professional will prevent you from claiming – or attempting to claim – deductions for which you either do not qualify or only have a limited and conditional claim.

Those who are truly fiscally challenged usually opt to have a tax preparer handle their business taxes at least during the first year so as to ensure that each and every schedule is included, the majority of deductions makes it into the return, and a good starting record is established that may serve as an example for the coming year when the entrepreneur might try to go it alone. Since the money you spend on a professional tax preparer is deductible, it is indeed a wise expense!

As you can see, the self employment tax is not really something to be dreaded and feared, but it is a tax that must be paid and when you fail to make estimated payments throughout the year, you will find that the end of the year hit may be especially hard to take.

The Power of Prayer

The following short story and wraparound came to me in an email and it touched me in such a profound way that I just want to pass this along to whomever reads my blogs. Nothing has been added and nothing has been omitted.


I tend to forget that God knows what's in my future and plans ahead for me.
This beautiful story was written by a doctor who worked in Africa.

One night I had worked hard to help a mother in the labor ward; but in spite of all we could do, she died, leaving us with a tiny, premature baby and a crying two-year-old daughter.

We would have difficulty keeping the baby alive, as we had no incubator (we had no electricity to run an incubator). We also had no special feeding facilities.

Although we lived on the equator, nights were often chilly with treacherous drafts. One student midwife went for the box we had for such babies and the cotton wool that the baby would be wrapped in.

Another went to stoke up the fire and fill a hot water bottle. She came back shortly in distress to tell me that in filling the bottle, it had burst (rubber perishes easily in tropical climates). "And it is our last hot water bottle!" she exclaimed. As in the West, it is no good crying over spilled milk, so in Central Africa it might be considered no good crying over burst water bottles. They do not grow on trees, and there are no drugstores down forest pathways.

"All right," I said, "put the baby as near the fire as you safely can, and sleep between the baby and the door to keep it free from drafts. Your job is to keep the baby warm."

The following noon , as I did most days, I went to have prayers with any of the orphanage children who chose to gather with me. I gave the youngsters various suggestions of things to pray about and told them about the tiny baby. I explained our problem about keeping the baby warm enough, mentioning the hot water bottle, and that the baby could so easily die if it got chills. I also told them of the two-year-old sister, crying because her mother had died.

During prayer time, one ten -year-old girl, Ruth, prayed with the usual blunt conciseness of our African children. "Please, God" she prayed, "Send us a hot water bottle today. It'll be no good tomorrow, God, as the baby will be dead, so please send it this afternoon."

While I gasped inwardly at the audacity of the prayer, she added, "And while You are about it, would You please send a dolly for the little girl so she'll know You really love her?"

As often with children's prayers, I was put on the spot. Could I honestly say "Amen"? I just did not believe that God could do this. Oh, yes, I know that He can do everything; the Bible says so. But there are limits, aren't there? The only way God could answer this particular prayer would be by sending me a parcel from the homeland.

I had been in Africa for almost four years at that time, and I had never, ever, received a parcel from home. Anyway, if anyone did send me a parcel, who would put in a hot water bottle? I lived on the equator!

Halfway through the afternoon, while I was teaching in the nurses' training school, a message was sent that there was a car at my front door.

By the time I reached home, the car had gone, but there on the veranda was a large 22-pound parcel. I felt tears pricking my eyes. I could not open the parcel alone, so I sent for the orphanage children.

Together we pulled off the string, carefully undoing each knot. We folded the paper, taking care not to tear it unduly. Excitement was mounting. Some thirty or forty pairs of eyes were focused on the large cardboard box.

From the top, I lifted out brightly-colored, knitted jerseys. Eyes sparkled as I gave them out. Then there were the knitted bandages for the leprosy patients, and the children looked a little bored.

Then came a box of mixed raisins and sultanas - that would make a batch of buns for the weekend.

Then, as I put my hand in again, I felt the.....could it really be? I grasped it and pulled it out. Yes, a brand new, rubber hot water bottle. I cried.

I had not asked God to send it; I had not truly believed that He could. Ruth was in the front row of the children. She rushed forward, crying out,"If God has sent the bottle, He must have sent the dolly, too!"

Rummaging down to the bottom of the box, she pulled out the small, beautifully-dressed dolly. Her eyes shone! She had never doubted! Looking up at me, she asked: "Can I go over with you and give this dolly to that little girl, so she'll know that Jesus really loves her?" Of course, I replied!

That parcel had been on the way for five whole months, packed up by my former Sunday school class, whose leader had heard and obeyed God's prompting to send a hot water bottle, even to the equator. And one of the girls had put in a dolly for an African child - five months before, in answer to the believing prayer of a ten-year-old to bring it "that afternoon."

"Before they call, I will answer." (Isaiah 65:24)

When you receive this, say the prayer. That's all you have to do. No strings attached. Just send it on to whomever you want - but do send it on.

Prayer is one of the best free gifts we receive. There is no cost, but a lot of rewards. Let's continue praying for one another.

This awesome prayer takes less than a minute.

"Heavenly Father, I ask You to bless my friends reading this. I ask You to minister to their spirit. Where there is pain, give them Your peace and mercy. Where there is self-doubting, release a renewed confidence to work through them. Where there is tiredness or exhaustion, I ask You to give them understanding, guidance, and strength. Where there is fear, reveal Your love and release to them Your courage. Bless their finances, give them greater vision, and raise up leaders and friends to support and encourage them. Give each of them discernment to recognize the evil forces around them and reveal to them the power they have in You to defeat it. I ask You to do these things in Jesus' name. Amen"
